Background of the Study

Social media has revolutionized political socialization, especially among youth, by providing a platform for political discourse, engagement, and mobilization (Olanrewaju & Abubakar, 2023). In Gusau LGA, Zamfara State, social media has emerged as an essential tool for political socialization, particularly for youth activism. Through platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, young people in Gusau have been able to engage in political discussions, express opinions on governance, and mobilize for political causes (Garba & Bala, 2024). Social media has also facilitated political campaigns and the dissemination of political information, significantly impacting how young people perceive politics and their role in the democratic process. This study explores the role of social media in shaping political socialization among youth in Gusau LGA, particularly focusing on the growth of youth activism online and its implications for political participation.
